Buying a 1GB flash drive may not be something to blog about as every one and his dog probably has a flash drive these days. This post is about a small bug during calculation of shipping prices when checking out the order in eBay India. Actually I ordered it on 19th February 2008 and the seller shipped it immediately on the next day itself. But lazy bums in DTDC couriers delivered it today only even though it is an inter city shipment. So I waited to receive the item before posting.

As its apparent from the screenshot of the product listing above, the seller is in Chennai and I’m also in Chennai. As per the shipping costs below, it is Rs29 for the local courier option. But sadly when I proceed to the checkout page, ebay automatically assumes this as Flat rate courier option and adds Rs49 to my order instead of Rs29 as shown in the below screenshot

There was no way to select a shipping method. I checked all my adresses and they were perfect. Though this small sum of Rs20 doesnt burn any hole in the wallet its still a bug and might have cost a lot for products with high shipment value. After receiving the item I just left feedback and another bug is popping out. I’m unable to confirm the receipt of the item in ‘MyeBay’ as seen from the below screenshots.

I just get some ‘This is not a valid user’ crap error message.

And to top it up the Transcend USA is inaccessible for me now. So I’m unable to download the JetFlash Elite software to try out its long list of features. Will have to stay with just copying files.
