Today Honda Motors was supposed to be the company coming for placements and I was thinking of applying for it. So yesterday I visited the Honda website searching for some info as I do for any other company thats coming to campus. Went to honda.com and finally arrived to the honda India websites section. found out that there are so many joint ventures (including Hero Honda) and consequently so many websites :P then i decided just to take some printouts of my resume and obviously they will be telling about the company in the PPT.

As scheduled we had the PPT and the company was Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Ltd. It is the only wholly-owned subsidary of Honda Motors in India (as we were told and the other are joint ventures like Honda-Siel Cars, Hero Honda, Honda Power Products..etc). the HR ppl were running thru all the info abt the company and also something about the parent company in Japan.. the ASIMO dude came into the scene once or twice (in the presentation of course… hehe…) then we were told that we wud have a rather tough written test (i guess it was in a sarcastic tone..)

the aptitude test was normal 30 q’s in 30 mins time.. solved 60% of them and just ticked others randomly with some guesses… the technical (30 q’s in 35 mins) was a comedy as I had forgotten most of my mech stuff rather an year before itself and no prep before the test… (Q: how to improve the efficiency of Rankine cycle ? A: How do I know ??? :P ) thank god with some remaining knowledge, intuition and lucky guesses finished the paper. got thru the test. and in the interview they asked some simple HR q’s, about my projects, quality management - as I was associated much with quality and stuff, industries I visited, will I be able to relocate/speak hindi.. etc etc…. no pure techies. and phew!! got selected alas.

having lots of memories of my more-than-a-year placement experience in my college.. i’ve seen so many dilemmas, dissapointments, fear, happiness, pain, among my friends and myself, so was in no mood for celebration… atleast after the chaotic 2006 I went thru, things are back under equlibrium I guess hehe. hmm still who knows wat the future holds in store.

and our Mech AB batch has everyone placed (technically those who applied for placements…)
