Automobile Workshop - Kurukshetra 2007

I wanted to post this on the day of attending the workshop itself but darn I forgot to get the photos from one of my juniors who clicked them for me. What to do poor me I dont have a digital camera :(

The workshop was conducted on 4th January the first day of Kurukshetra 2007. It started around 10:00 in the morning and as we the participants were eagerly waiting for it to begin, the organisers were busy assembling the parts and other cool (eh!! ‘Hot’ may be apt as they were all racing performance parts) stuff on the table and setting up things.

The workshop was conducted by National champion J.D.Madhan and his associate Sandeep a.k.a Sandy :D The article appeared the next day in The Hindu. Click on the small article to view the full image (Courtesy: http://epaper.thehindu.com). I have also included some photos taken during the event.

we learnt a lot during the worshop like what are the things that are most important for increasing the performance of the racing car and how it is done. Also about how the nitrous boost works, types of different nitrous boosting, differences between the suspension system of a normal car versus a racing car, and a lot about the turbocharger+intercooler arrangement.

They also covered problems of aqua planing, the necessity of unidirectional tyres, the braking system with ABS, traction control system, difficulties in custom programming the ECM so going for a separate piggy back computer in the car..etc Phew! I recollected a lot.

And the fun part was the demonstration using the real race car in that limited space we had :P … yeah i forgot to mention the 600cc honda bike.. on the whole a nice learning experience and a lot of fun.

Earlier during the day I had a dilemma whether to attend the automobile workshop or to go for the Ethical Hacking Workshop, but the auditorium in which the latter was conducted was brimming with people due to over registration so I chose to attend the Automobile Workshop and the decision was worth it. Finally please dont say that I could have given a better pose for the photo :P I know that :p
