Now that the Government has lifted the ban, bloggers can heave a sigh of relief. Much criticism has been done on this ban. But if we just brush aside the problems faced by the bloggers during the ban theres a positive side to this. A lot of publicity has been created for blogging by the media. Not that blogging is infamous in India, but it is mostly used by College Students, Young Professionals and the Tech-Savvy community. After the news of the ban several articles appeared in the newspapers and websites explaining the use and power of blogging.
Three articles from todays The Hindu Newspaper:
Bloggers are back in business.
Inputting blogging talent to put out quality reading material.
(In the second Article it is said that ‘……we are still some time away from having advertisements on our blogs as in the US or Europe…’. Thats a true statement indeed. At this point the ‘Adsense’ program from Google is worth mentioning. If you really have some good content and some considerable amount of people visit the blog you can take advantage of the ‘Adsense’ program to make some money.)
In my house ppl read the newspapers regularly. They say “…..see you should know about this Blogging and all… people are writing in online journals… making use of their knowledge… and u r just browsing in the computer all day and wasting your time…..”. he he he…. wat can i say to them ?? And some of my friends who were skeptical till now also started blogging (…huh! atleast registered themselves in blogging websites…)
This is just the psychology of human beings, you block or deny access to something - more people will take notice and try to know about it. Its like the case of Area 51 or the Nevada Region in the United States, its a highly protected place… so everyones interested in knowing whats in there. So theres nothing like a ‘Negative Publicity’.. its all the same.
I remember a Quote which goes like this…
‘I don’t care what you say about me as long as you spell my name correctly’.
